Modifying Cursors
Cursors serve as visual cues for readers. Different cursors represent different actions that the user is taking. When a cursor's appearance is different that expected, it draws the user's attention to the webpage and its design. As you are designing your Digication portfolio, you may consider modifying the general page's cursor or the way the cursor appears when the user hovers over a link. If you choose to modify your cursors, remember that most cursors have an understood meaning and you do not want to confuse your audience by contradicting these meanings.
How to Modify Cursors
To modify the body cursor, find the following method:
body {
background:#f7f7f7;
color: #222222;
}
Within the method, add the following statement:
cursor: crosshair;
You may also change how the cursor looks when it hovers over a link by adding the following two methods:
a:hover{
cursor: help;
}
.navigation_topnav a:hover{
cursor:help;
}
Finally, note that there are a variety of cursors you can use. For a list of options and their browser compatability, please refer to this cursor styles sheet.
